Interview with Johny Brossard, Head of Sales France KRAIBURG TPE
KRAIBURG TPE, a German company specializing in the overmolding of thermoplastic elastomers, will be taking part in FPC - Forum Plasturgie Composites on October 2 and 3. On this occasion, Johny Brossard, Head of Sales France, tells us more about the company and its commitment to the circular economy.

What is KRAIBURG TPE's main mission?

KRAIBURG TPE is one of the world's leading manufacturers of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). Our wide range of TPEs meets the requirements of all markets: automotive, construction, electro-electrical, railways, consumer goods, hygiene and care, sports, toys, cosmetics and medical. Our TPEs can be overmolded on most thermoplastics: PP, PE, PC, ABS, ASA, SAN, PMMA, PA6, PA66, PA12 PPA, PET, PBT, POM, etc. Our 3 factories in Germany, USA and Malaysia, our local presence in China, India, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Poland, Italy, Sweden, Spain and France, and our network of distributors enable us to support our customers worldwide.

At FPC, you'll be meeting decision makers from a wide range of markets. Without revealing everything, could you tell us about one of your innovative solutions that will surprise our visitors?

Since 2021, we've been offering recycled-based TPEs. We now market products containing up to 75% recycled or bio-based materials.
Our Leightweight range of TPEs reduces part weight by 25 to 40%. The FR2 range offers UL94 V0 flame-retardant 1.5 mm halogen-free TPEs. The EC and EC/PA ranges include electrically conductive TPEs (up to resistivity <10 Ωcm) for overmolding PP or PA parts.

How are your solutions/developments part of a circular economy approach?

Between 2014 and 2021, we have reduced the carbon footprint of our products by 35%. KRAIBURG TPE is committed to reducing CO2 emissions from Scopes 1 and 2 by 42% and Scope 3 by 25% by 2031 compared with 2021 at constant values.
KRAIBURG TPE is certified ISO14001, ISO50001, ECOVADIS, CDP, ISCC Plus and we calculate the Carbon Footprint of our products according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and ISO 14067. Some of our compounds can be recycled using the PP and PE channels (Cyclos-HTP certificate).
